Dunstable Town Council is delighted to welcome residents and visitors to Ashton Square Day, returning to the town centre on Friday 14 August and Saturday 15 August. This popular annual event promises two days of free entertainment, great food and plenty of family fun, making it a great way to enjoy the summer in the heart of Dunstable.
Ashton Square Day first began in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, when it provided a safe way for people to enjoy the town centre while social distancing measures were in place. Since then, it has grown into a popular annual event, giving families, friends and visitors the chance to enjoy a weekend of entertainment and activities in the town centre.
The festivities begin on Friday 14 August from 4.00 pm to 9.00 pm, when Ashton Square will be filled with the sights, sounds and flavours of summer. Visitors can enjoy a fantastic selection of street food while listening to live music and performances from talented local artists and community groups. It’s the perfect opportunity to meet up with friends, try something tasty and enjoy a relaxed summer evening.
The fun continues on Saturday 15 August from 9.30 am to 3.30 pm, with even more to see and do. The popular Middle Row Market returns with a great selection of artisan food, handmade crafts and independent traders, offering plenty of opportunities to browse, shop local and discover something different.
Families will find lots to keep children entertained throughout the weekend, with free soft play and free face painting available on both days. Everyone can enjoy stepping back in time with the free retro arcade, as well as the entertainment on the Community Stage. Performances from local musicians, singers, dancers and community groups will provide a varied programme across the weekend, creating a lively atmosphere for visitors of all ages.
Whether you’re visiting for the music, the food, the market or the family activities, there will be something for everyone to enjoy. Best of all, the event is completely free to attend, making it an ideal day out during the summer holidays.
