Dunstable Town Council Accessibility Statement

Introduction

This accessibility statement applies to the Dunstable Town Council website (www.dunstable.gov.uk). This website is run by Dunstable Town Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website.

Using the Recite Me Accessibility Toolbar

Dunstable Town Council provides the Recite Me assistive technology toolbar to support accessibility and language needs.

To launch Recite Me, click the Accessibility Icon in the bottom right hand corner button on any page. Recite Me allows users to: have text read aloud; translate content into over 100 languages; adjust text size, font and spacing; change colour contrasts; use reading rulers, screen mask and magnifier tools; download text as MP3; and access an integrated dictionary and thesaurus.

How Accessible this website Is

Dunstable Town Council is committed to providing a fully accessible website. The website meets all current WCAG 2.2 AA requirements for new content and functionality, and the website is considered accessible and compliant.

Despite our best efforts, some parts of the website may not be fully accessible:

  • PDFs and other documents: Some of our older PDFs (published before September 2018) and certain statutory financial scans may not be fully accessible to screen reader software.
  • Third-party content: We may link to or host content from third-party providers (e.g., social media feeds or maps) which are outside of our direct control.
  • Interactive Maps: Some maps may be difficult to navigate using only a keyboard.
