Personal Statement:
I have been a resident in Dunstable for the past 7 years. Formerly from North London and lived in Hertfordshire for 17 years
Graduated with a bachelors arts honours degree in English Language and Literature at the Open University. One of the highlight disciplines of my undergraduate degree was creative writing. Since my English degree; I have become an author, and in 2021 – self-published my first book on Amazon called: The Right Kind Of Justice
In 2020, I graduated with a postgraduate masters degree in public administration at the University of Birmingham. As part of the masters degree – I studied Democracy, Governance and Participation, Leadership in Public Services, Managing in a Political Environment, Managing Public Money, Partnership and Collaboration, Performance Management, Programme and Project Management, Public Management and Governance in a Changing World, research design, and Strategic Management, which I’m sure will serve some purpose during my time as councillor.
I have taught politics and current affairs at a Pupil Referral Unit to disengaged young people at risk of permanent exclusion from their mainstream setting. In addition, I am a fully trained mindfulness practitioner and teacher delivering a curriculum in schools that teach children and young people skills in how to focus, concentrate, sit still and pay attention more skilfully in the classroom.
My employment involves delivering interventions to children and young people with specific learning difficulties (SLD) and social emotional and mental health (SEMH),which also includes school transition. In 2023, I successfully rolled out a Transition Package to a variety of schools we offer a service to in Central Bedfordshire.
Like my fellow colleagues, I have a keen interest in the history and development of our town, the services the Council provides, and the many events it stages for all our residents.

Personal Statement:
My home has been in Dunstable for the past 38 years.
Originally from Pembrokeshire and lived in Birmingham, London, Upminster and Wokingham. A Barrister by profession with some years’ experience as a Law lecturer and departmental administrator, I came to Dunstable to Head the Department of Business and Academic Studies at the then Dunstable College (now Central Bedfordshire College).
I served on Bedfordshire County Council between 1993-2009; Central Bedfordshire Council between 2009-2019 (Chairman 2010-2012) and Dunstable Town Council 2008 – present, serving as Mayor 2016-2017 and 2020-2021. I now chair the Finance and General Purposes Committee having previously chaired the Community Services Committee.
I have a keen interest in the history and development of our town, the services the Council provides and the many events it stages for all our residents.
It has been my recent privilege to contribute to a book ‘They Came to the Crossroads’ about the many people who have come to Dunstable over the centuries and made their mark on the town; to be available in November 2023.
