On Monday 23 March, Town Mayor Councillor Sally Kimondo hosted the Annual Town Meeting, bringing residents together under the theme of volunteering. The evening highlighted opportunities for volunteering in Dunstable, along with support for local people to find and make best use of volunteering opportunities.

The meeting featured speakers who highlighted ways Dunstable residents can get involved:

  • Gill Peck (Youth & Community Team, Dunstable Town Council): Outlined the various volunteering roles connected to the Town Council, including opportunities to work with youth and older people, green spaces projects, Friends of Dunstable Cemetery, marshalling and litter picking at events.
  • Martin Trinder (CVS Bedfordshire): Provided an overview of the support services offered by CVS, offering practical advice on how individuals can match their unique skills with local volunteer vacancies, and the CVS’s database of volunteering opportunities on their website: https://www.cvsbeds.org.uk/
  • Liz Jones (Chair, Dunstable in Bloom): Discussed the vital role of volunteers in Dunstable in Bloom and talked about the need for more people to get involved in this year’s Britain in Bloom and Anglia in Bloom campaigns.  To get involved visit www.dib.support.

  • Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity (BRCC)
  • The Town Guides
  • Dunstable in Bloom
  • CVS Bedfordshire
  • Hospice at Home Volunteers
"Volunteering is the heartbeat of Dunstable. It was truly heartening to see so many residents eager to offer their time and talents to support our community. Whether it is helping our town flourish for Britain in Bloom or supporting our local youth, every hour given makes Dunstable a better place to live." Reflecting on the evening’s success, Town Mayor Cllr Sally Kimondo expressed her gratitude
