Priory Gardens was packed with sunshine and smiles on Saturday 13 June, as more than 6,000 people came together for the annual Dunstable Classic Motor Rally.
The day started with a people lining the High Street to cheer on a truck convoy as it pasted the Clock Tower. Afterwards, crowds of people headed into Priory Gardens to explore over 200 classic and vintage vehicles of every shape, size, and colour imaginable.
The park was alive with music all day, thanks to brilliant live performances from The Memphis Bells, Lulu and the Hullabaloos, and a fantastic set by rising young star Kiah Rihanna.
There was also plenty of family fun to keep everyone entertained including Unbound Theatre with A Frantic Fable (The Wind in the Willows), History Alive Trail, FREE arts and crafts, and a popular assault course.
For the first time, the Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service joined the event, bringing a virtual reality experience to teach people about road safety in a whole new way. Nearby, Teaching Talons was a massive hit with the kids, offering up-close encounters with owls, rats, a parrot, and even a tenrec.
On The Square and along Middle Row, Middle Row Market was bustling with over 35 stalls selling delicious food, handmade crafts, and unique gifts. There was also performances by Imagination Majorettes, FREE arts and crafts and FREE Brick Racers activity which provide to be popular, where children could build their own brick-style car and race it down a track.
"It was absolutely wonderful to see Priory Gardens packed with so many smiling faces. The weather couldn't have been better, and there was such a brilliant community atmosphere. Choosing the winning cars with Deputy Mayor Cllrr Robert Blennerhasset was incredibly tough because the standard was so high, but everyone who brought their vehicle along should be proud. A huge thank you to everyone who worked so hard to put this event together, and to the thousands of people who came out to support it."
