Imagination Majorettes Awarded Seedcorn Grant

Posted on

Dunstable Town Council is pleased to announce that Imagination Majorettes has been awarded a £500 Seedcorn Grant to support the purchase of new uniforms, show leotards, pom poms, and batons for its young performers.

Imagination Majorettes is dedicated to fostering creativity, confidence, and self-expression among young people in Dunstable. The troupe provides an inclusive and welcoming space where children can explore performance, learn teamwork and discipline, and develop both physical coordination and performance skills. Through majorettes, members are encouraged to build self-belief, resilience, and a strong sense of community, while having fun and expressing themselves through movement and music.

Regular sessions take place every Monday evening from 6.15pm to 7.15pm at the Downside Community Centre. These sessions offer a supportive environment where children can develop their majorette skills, build confidence, and form lasting friendships.

“We are very grateful to receive this grant from Dunstable Town Council, the grant will help us in purchasing equipment and uniform for the troupe. We are the only troupe based in our local area & are looking forward to performing throughout this year at all the local events.” Jasmine, Club Manager of Imagination Majorettes

The young majorettes will be performing across Dunstable at several markets and events organised by Dunstable Town Council, including:

  • Saturday 16 May – Middle Row Love Your Local Market
  • Saturday 13 June – Dunstable Classic Motor Rally
  • Friday 14 August – Ashton Square Evening
  • Saturday 14 August – Ashton Square Day
  • Saturday 12 September – Heritage Open Day Market
“We are delighted to support Imagination Majorettes through our Seedcorn Grant scheme. Groups like this play a vital role in enriching our community by giving young people the opportunity to develop confidence, creativity, and teamwork. It is wonderful to see local organisations providing positive and inclusive activities for children, and we look forward to seeing Imagination Majorettes perform at events across Dunstable throughout the year.” Councillor Matthew Neall, Chair of the Community Services Committee
