Dunstable Town Council is appealing to local marching bands, brass bands, bagpipe players and musical groups to help lead this year's Remembrance Sunday Parade on Sunday 8 November.
Following many years of leading the parade, Dunstable’s Salvation Army band are no longer able to march and for the first time will only be able to provide music during the act of remembrance in Priory Gardens and following service. The Town Council is keen to hear from any groups that may be interested in playing a key role in this important community event.
The annual Remembrance Sunday commemorations bring together residents, veterans, service organisations, cadet groups and community representatives to remember those who have served and sacrificed in conflicts past and present.
The parade will set off from Grove House Gardens and make its way through the town centre to Priory Gardens, where a two-minute silence will be observed following the striking of the Maroon signal. Wreaths will then be laid at the War Memorial before a service takes place at Priory Church.

As well as seeking a band to lead the procession, Dunstable Town Council is encouraging residents to attend the commemorations and show their support by lining the High Street as the parade passes through the town.
Anyone who is part of a band, or knows of a group that may be interested in leading the procession, is invited to contact Dunstable Town Council by emailing democratic@dunstable.gov.uk or calling 01582 513000.
Road closures will be in place between 10.30am and 11am on Sunday 8 November. High Street North and High Street South, between Grove House and Priory House Heritage Centre, will be temporarily closed to accommodate the parade.
