Dunstable Town Council was delighted to support a unique event on The Square, organised by Brian Service and Ann Rabson with support from the Town Centre Manager and Dunstable Town Council in aid of the Errol McKellar Foundation.
The Rum, Reggae & Ska Music Event, held on Saturday 25 July, brought together residents and visitors for an afternoon of live music, delicious Caribbean food and refreshments, all while raising awareness and funds for the Errol McKellar Foundation, a charity dedicated to raising awareness of prostate cancer and the importance of early diagnosis.
The event marked the first time Dunstable Town Council has enabled and supported a local business to deliver its own large-scale event on The Square, helping to broaden the range of experiences and activities available within the town centre.
The live music created a wonderful atmosphere throughout the day, with visitors singing along and taking to the dance floor. Live performances from Yvonne Michele, Jenny Ingram-Brown and Tim Heights entertained the crowd, creating a vibrant and welcoming environment. Combined with the delicious food and rum shack from Ann Marie’s Fresh Caribbean Cuisine, the event was a celebration of music, culture and community spirit.
The event raised an outstanding £1,135.65 for the Errol McKellar Foundation Thanks to the generosity of attendees.

It was wonderful to see so many people enjoying themselves, singing, dancing and coming together to support an important charity. The event created a fantastic atmosphere in the town centre and showcased how local businesses can play a role in bringing new and exciting experiences to Dunstable.”

“What a wonderful event it was on Saturday 25 July in Dunstable. It was truly a fantastic day – great food, brilliant music and most importantly, amazing people coming together to have fun and raise the amount of £1,135.65 for the Errol McKellar Foundation supporting Prostrate Cancer. This will go a long way to support their work raising awareness and deliver life-saving prostate cancer testing within the community.
