Love working with people and looking for a role where no two days are quite the same?

We’re looking for friendly, enthusiastic and flexible Priory House Assistants to join our team.

This is a wonderfully varied role at the heart of Priory House. One day you might be welcoming visitors and helping customers find the perfect gift, the next you could be serving an Afternoon Tea, making a speciality coffee, helping prepare food or setting up for a wedding or special event.

Above all, you’ll help us give every visitor a warm welcome and a fantastic experience.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Priory House Assistant, you’ll work across different areas of Priory House and become an important part of our front-of-house team.

You’ll be:

  • Welcoming visitors and providing friendly, helpful and knowledgeable customer service.
  • Serving customers and helping promote and sell our shop products.
  • Making and serving teas, speciality coffees and other refreshments.
  • Serving Afternoon Teas and helping create a memorable experience for our guests.
  • Taking food and drink orders accurately and serving meals and snacks efficiently.
  • Taking bookings and responding to enquiries for functions, events, room hire and Afternoon Teas.
  • Processing payments and handling cash accurately and responsibly.
  • Helping set up rooms for weddings, functions and special events.
  • Supporting events and functions, including some evening and weekend working.
  • Assisting with basic food preparation when working in the kitchen.
  • Maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness, presentation, food hygiene and health & safety.
  • Helping keep Priory House looking welcoming, clean and ready for our visitors throughout the day.

About You

We’re looking for people who genuinely enjoy working with the public and understand how much difference a friendly welcome and great customer service can make.

You’ll be confident speaking to customers both face-to-face and over the telephone, able to remain calm when things get busy and happy to turn your hand to different tasks throughout the day.

Previous experience in hospitality, catering or customer service is essential, but just as important is your enthusiasm, reliability and willingness to learn.

You’ll also need to be comfortable handling payments, have good communication skills and excellent attention to detail. A Food Hygiene Certificate is required, although you’ll be able to undertake the course if you don’t currently hold one.

Experience of serving Afternoon Tea or using systems such as Word, Excel and Outlook would be an advantage.

More Than Just One Job

What makes this role different is its variety.

You won’t be confined to one area. You’ll have the opportunity to work across hospitality, retail, customer service, events, functions and food service, developing a broad range of skills while becoming part of the wider Priory House team.

You’ll also help us develop and improve what we offer, supporting new ideas and initiatives that contribute to the future success and sustainability of Priory House.

Some Evenings & Weekends

Priory House hosts functions and events throughout the year, so the role requires regular evening and weekend working, with additional hours sometimes available depending on the needs of the service.
