Additions to the Dunstable Town Centre
Living Pillars
The LivingPillars® on High Street North mark a significant milestone in Dunstable’s ongoing efforts to create a greener, more sustainable urban environment. The planters feature a combination of 50% perennial and 50% shrub planting. They are an inviting habitat for pollinators and other wildlife, and help to maintain and boost biodiversity in Dunstable.
Solar Benches
The solar benches aim to enhance Dunstable’s public spaces, reduce carbon emissions, and provide residents and visitors with convenient renewable energy-powered charging facilities which will offer users the ability to charge their phones, tablets, and other small electronic devices, using clean solar energy.
Sculpture Trail
Six wooden sculptures highlight key historical themes, people, and events that have played an important role in shaping Dunstable. These sculptures have been thoughtfully placed around the town to create a historical trail, titled “Carving a Journey Through Dunstable”.

Art in Middle Row
Following the success of previous displays, more art has been added to brighten up the market area to make it feel lively and welcoming. This includes new bunting showcasing Dunstable-inspired designs and artwork on electrical boxes created by a local community group.
Power Units in Grove House Gardens
New permanent power supplies mean local events don’t have to rely so heavily on noisy generators – it’s better for the environment and for the people attending.
Water Refill Stations
Residents and visitors can easily use their own reusable water bottles and refill them as often as needed at any of these convenient locations. This not only provides easy access to fresh water, but also significantly reduces single-use plastic waste fostering a more sustainable environment.
