Threepence Coin

£2.00

The Elizabeth II Threepence coin pack contains an original threepence coin of Elizabeth II. The double-sided pack has a hole in which the coin is held in a clear blister, this allows both the obverse and reverse to be clearly seen. The threepence coin first appeared in England as a silver coin during the reign of Edward VI. Although still silver, during the early 20th century the threepence had become unpopular, due to its small size. It was decided that a new more substantial coin would be introduced and whilst the silver threepence continued to be minted up until 1945 a new larger, nickel-brass, twelve-sized threepence was introduced in 1937.
