Penny Coin

£2.00

The George V Penny coin pack contains an original penny coin of George V. The double-sided pack has a hole in which the coin is held in a clear blister, this allows both the obverse and reverse to be clearly seen. The full colour card shows the royal coat of arms on the front. The first pennies were struck in the eighth century and were made from silver. It was not until 1797 that pennies were made from copper and then in 1860 that they were made of bronze. These pennies had the image of the seated Britannia on the reverse. During this time, there were 240 pennies to the pound, with twelve pence in a shilling and 20 shillings in a pound.
