There are also free to use tennis courts at Bennett Memorial Recreation Ground and an inclusive Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) at Kingsbury Recreation Ground.

The Town Council’s Grounds Team manages and maintains our parks and green spaces to the highest possible standard and to ensure that they remain clean, safe and well kept at all times.

If you notice an overflowing bin or unsafe play equipment, please contact us on 01582 513000 or emailing info@dunstable.gov.uk. We will coordinate with our Grounds Team to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

Dunstable Town Council is proud to have achieved the prestigious Green Flag Award for Grove House Gardens, Priory Gardens, Dunstable Cemetery and Bennett Memorial Recreation Ground. The achievement of four Green Flags highlights the council’s dedication and commitment to providing outstanding green spaces for the community.

When enjoying our parks and open spaces with your dog, please keep these important guidelines in mind to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone:

  • Always keep your dog within sight and under close control at all times
  • If an organised sports activity is being played on a pitch please make sure your dog is on a lead
  • Never allow your dog to chase wildlife, as this can lead to injury for both your pet and other animals
  • Be mindful of others and keep your dog at a safe distance from other people and pets. Not everyone may be as fond of dogs as you are
  • Always clean up after your dog and make use of the general waste bins to dispose of dog waste. Failure to clean up after your dog can result in a fine under the Dogs Fouling of Land Act 1996, with a maximum penalty of £1,000
  • For everyone’s safety, it is best to keep your dog on a lead when other park users are nearby
  • Dogs are not permitted in play areas

Mentmore Recreation Ground

Mentmore Recreation Ground in Dunstable is a welcoming green space for the local community. It features a children’s play area and junior football pitches, offering opportunities for outdoor activities and relaxation. The park is also home to a ‘Tiny Forest’—a small, densely planted woodland area created by community volunteers to boost biodiversity and provide a peaceful spot for nature lovers. Other initiatives have included the planting of climate-resilient trees and native hedgerows, enhancing the park’s natural beauty and supporting local wildlife.
