Hello, I’m Amy and I’m excited to say that I recently begun my new role at Dunstable Council as a Trainee Town Centre Assistant, marking an important next step in my career. After completing my degree in International Tourism Management with Marketing at the University of Brighton, I returned home to Dunstable with a passion for community-focused work and a desire to support meaningful local initiatives.
I was drawn to Dunstable Town Council because of its strong commitment to community wellbeing, local development, and engagement with residents. The opportunity to join a supportive, forward-thinking team made this role feel like the perfect next step for my professional journey.
In this role, I hope to support initiatives that strengthen community connections, enhance local events, and improve communication within the town. I am passionate about helping create opportunities that bring people together. My vision is to contribute to projects that inspire involvement, pride, and a deeper sense of belonging, while promoting memorable and positive experiences for residents and visitors.
So far, I have had the opportunity to be involved with the town’s festivities, including the Twilight Markets and Torchlight Procession, whilst working alongside the Town Centre Manager Annette Clynes and the Deputy Town Mayor Councillor Richard Attwell. Through this, I have gained practical, hands-on experience in event management, stakeholder coordination, and community-focused service.
Looking ahead into this New Year, I’m excited to build on this foundation as I begin my National Diploma in Markets Administration. I’m eager to bring fresh ideas and new perspectives, ensuring residents of all ages feel heard and represented. As a young person who has grown up in Dunstable, I’m proud to offer insight into the experiences of younger community members while helping to support a more inclusive future for all.
Look out for me in the Town Centre, and do stop me to say hello, share an idea or to let me know how you think we’re doing. Dunstable’s High Street is the centre of our wonderful town and I’m excited to be working with local businesses and the community to continue to make it a place people want to visit.
