At Grove Corner, we want to make sure every young person has the best experience they possibly can.

Recruiting the right people

Members of our team:

  • Have completed a DBS check.
  • Have completed safeguarding training.
  • Are required to report any concerns they have.
  • Want to help children feel safe and protected.

If a child or young person is at immediate risk of harm or danger, the Designated Safeguarding Lead, on the rare occasion, may need to contact Central Bedfordshire Safeguarding Team, without informing the parent or carer.

Terms and conditions for using Grove Corner

Dunstable Town Council is required to hold a sign up form for those attending Grove Corner. The information the form contains is for the operations of the club and to provide emergency contact details. Some of this information may be shared with other professional bodies as part of the ‘information sharing protocol’ DTC adhere to.

Responding to allegations of abuse made against a child

Dunstable Town Council is required to pass on any allegations of abuse made against a child, including:

  • physical and domestic abuse
  • sexual abuse
  • emotional abuse
  • financial abuse and modern slavery
  • organisational / institutional abuse
  • discriminatory abuse
  • neglect

If a child or young person is an immediate risk, DTC staff may be required to call 999. If there is a risk of putting the child or young person in danger, the DSL on the rare occasion not inform a parent or carer.

Preventing and responding to bullying

Dunstable Town Council does not tolerate or accept bullying. If Dunstable Town Council becomes aware of bullying, this will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Dunstable Town Council strives for their events and activities to be provided in a safe space for all who attend.
