Updated – Announcement regarding Council services in response to the Covid-19 (coronavirus) Pandemic –17 July 2020
Like many organisations and service providers across Dunstable, Dunstable Town Council has been preparing their response to the Governments announcements concerning the Covid-19 Pandemic. What follows is a breakdown, as at 23 March, of how Town Council services across the town will be impacted. This is an update to the Town Council post made on 17 March. Each service area will be addressed in turn:
Contacting the Town Council – as long as staffing resources allow, residents and businesses can continue to contact the Council through our Facebook page; our mainline telephone number – 01582 513000 or email – email@example.com. Please note though that our main offices at Grove House will be closed until further notice.
Town Council meetings – All Town Council Meetings will be held remotely via Microsoft Teams.
Council suppliers – All payments to suppliers will continue to be made in accordance with normal Council procedures.
Priory House – The Priory House Tea Rooms, Gift Shop and TIC are all now open. Please check website pages for further details.
Grove Corner – All young people’s activities and sessions delivered from Grove Corner are cancelled until further notice. Anyone with a pre-existing booking of Grove Corner will be contacted.
Middle Row Saturday Markets – The Council’s Middle Row Saturday markets are now back on. Please check website pages for further details.
Ashton Square Public Toilets – Ashton Square Public Toilets are now open.
Older People’s Lunch Clubs – The Monday and Thursday older people’s lunch clubs held at the Beecroft Community Centre and Creasey Park Community Football Centre respectively are cancelled until further notice. The Council will remain in direct contact with all service users during this period.
The Older People’s Big Lunch – The Big Lunch held at Grove House Garden’s planned for 9 June will be delayed. All people booked onto this event will be notified.
Events – The following Council events will be cancelled or postponed to a later date if it is possible to re-organise them:
St Georges Day event – Saturday 25 April CANCELLED
Around the World – Saturday 9 May POSTPONED
Classic Motor Rally – Saturday 13 June POSTPONED
Dunstable Live – Saturday 20 June POSTPONED
Sunday Band Concert – Sunday 28 June POSTPONED
NB – The Council will do all it can to try and re-arrange as many of our postponed events as possible later in the year.
Dunstable Cemetery – All burial services at the Dunstable Cemetery will remain in operation and the Cemetery will remain open to all visitors. The Cemetery Office and Chapel are closed until further notice. Please direct all enquiries to firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 01582 891428.
Allotments – All of the Council’s six allotment sites at Meadway, Pascomb Road, Westfield Road, Hillcroft, Catchacre and Maidenbower Avenue will remain open, but users are encouraged to please adhere to all Government guidance on self-isolating and social distancing.
Parks and Recreation Grounds – All council owned public open space will remain open and accessible. However, to avoid social gatherings, wherever possible, all park and recreation ground car parks will be locked.
Creasey Park Community Football Centre –The Centre is able to accommodate training on the ATP following government guidelines around football training. Please e-mail email@example.com
Bennett’s Splash and Splashide Café – The opening of the splash park and cafe for this summer has been cancelled.
The Council is extremely sorry for any disruption these arrangements may have but the safety of our customers and staff is paramount.
The Council would like to make clear that it remains open for any resident enquiries throughout this period. We would particularly like to hear from vulnerable residents that may need any form of assistance. Whilst we might not be able to help directly, we would hope to be able to sign post you in the right direction.
Further announcements concerning all Council services and activities will be made as the Government issues ongoing advice and guidance. We would urge all our residents to adhere to Government guidance.
