Young Traders on The Square
Come and enjoy a vibrant market atmosphere as young entrepreneurs showcase their talents in the NMTF Young Traders’ Competition. These aspiring traders will be sharing their products, ideas, and creativity and they’d love your support on Saturday 5 July from 9.30 am to 3.30 pm.
This initiative is part of a national campaign led by the National Market Traders Federation (NMTF), an organization dedicated to nurturing the growth of young entrepreneurs in market environments. Participants who win at the local level will progress to the Regional Final in London on Saturday 13 July. Additionally, the winner of Dunstable’s Young Trader Competition will receive a free stall at Dunstable’s Twilight Market in December.
In 2024, Skye Alefounder, of Country House Treats, was the overall winner at Portobello Market and advanced to the finals in Stratford-upon-Avon, all by taking part in this incredible opportunity! Skye will be joining us again this year and hopes to draw on her experience trading at Middle Row Market over the past year to secure a place in London for 2025.
Middle Row Market, with support from this year’s sponsor Howden Insurance, is proud to offer young people aged 16 to 30 the chance to trade for free on Saturday 5 July. Each trader has also received free public liability insurance and the opportunity to trade up to five additional times at Middle Row Markets for just £10 per stall from April to November.
From 1.30 pm, three judges will be visiting the young traders’ stalls, speaking with them about their businesses and ideas. Three young traders will be put forward to the reginal finals and the overall winner will receive a free trading weekend at this year’s Twilight event. So, cheer on our young entrepreneurs as they await the results and enjoy the experience of what it’s like to be in business for a day!
