In many cemeteries it is no longer possible to purchase or reserve a burial space before it is required.
Currently at Dunstable Cemetery when you are arranging a burial in a new grave or cremation plot, you have the opportunity to purchase the Exclusive Right of Burial to one adjacent grave space.
However, this option is ONLY available at the time of arranging a burial in a new grave or plot.
It is not possible to purchase the Exclusive Right of Burial to an adjacent grave space when arranging a burial in an existing grave space, or when burying in a grave space to which the Rights have previously been issued.
If you do not wish to purchase the adjacent grave space, you will be asked to sign a disclaimer stating that you were offered the option, do not wish to take up the option and understand that you cannot do so at a later date.
However if, after signing this, you change your mind before the funeral and wish to purchase the adjacent grave space it is imperative you let your funeral director know as soon as possible, as purchasing the Exclusive Right of Burial to the adjacent space may affect the position of the grave.
It is NOT possible to take up the option to purchase the adjacent space AFTER the funeral.
The option to purchase the Exclusive Right of Burial for an adjacent space does NOT apply to graves in sections for babies and children.
