The Council has agreed a specific policy to only allow the pre-purchase of one adjacent grave space when arranging a burial in a new grave space or Garden of Remembrance plot. At this time, you have the opportunity to purchase the Exclusive Right of Burial for the adjacent grave space. This opportunity is only available at the time of arranging a burial in a new grave space.
In many cemeteries it is no longer possible to purchase or reserve a burial space before it is required.
Currently at Dunstable Cemetery when you are arranging a burial in a new grave or cremation plot, you have the opportunity to purchase the Exclusive Right of Burial to one adjacent grave space.
It is not possible to purchase the Exclusive Right of Burial to an adjacent grave space when arranging a burial in an existing grave space, or when burying in a grave space to which the Rights have previously been issued.
If you do not wish to purchase the adjacent grave space, you will be asked to sign a disclaimer stating that you were offered the option, do not wish to take up the option and understand that you cannot do so at a later date.
