Welcome to the home page of the Dunstable Teen Council! We’re a group of young people working as an advisory committee to the Dunstable Town Council, representing young residents of Dunstable in the decision-making processes of our local government. Our first elections were held in November 2006, in which 10 Teen Councillors were elected by young people around the town through polling stations in our upper schools. Before then a group of young people that made up a steering group had been working for about 8 months with the Town Council and other youth organisations to set up the Teen Council committee. This is now our first year in existence, but already we’ve established our Constitution and regular meeting venues (including those with the Town Mayor), and been involved in and begun our own projects in Dunstable aimed at young people and their issues. We’ve also consulted with the Town Council and other youth groups in issues affecting Dunstable’s young people. Future Development NOVEMBER ELECTIONS! On the first of November elections will be taking place across Dunstable. Aside from current projects we are working through to completion we are also drawing up plans for greater publicity across the town, focusing in particular but not only in upper schools, youth groups and community centres.
