Council Finances
Every year, Dunstable Town Council levies what is called a “precept” on your local Council Tax charge. This precept comes direct to the Town Council and is the only source of income (apart from income received from certain services such as burial charges) that the Council receives.
This year, there will be no increase in the charge made by Dunstable Town Council which will remain at a Band D Council Tax levy of £139.65 for the whole year. This will raise £1,792,827 to enable the Town Council to deliver all the various services it provides in the town for 2011/12. The Council actually predicts to spend £2,372,090 for 2011/2012 which means that an additional £579,263 in income will need to be achieved. This income target clearly shows the added value the Council aims to deliver on the precept.
